Sam

Chartered Physiotherapist
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy First Class, MSc Sports and Exercise Medicine, MCSP, HCPC

Sam is a highly skilled Chartered Physiotherapist with First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy and a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine. He has over four years of combined rotational and senior clinical experience within the NHS and currently works as a Senior Musculoskeletal, ICU and Respiratory Physiotherapist. His clinical background brings advanced assessment skills, strong evidence-based clinical reasoning, and extensive practical experience to patient care.

Sam manages complex musculoskeletal caseloads referred by GPs, consultants, and secondary care services. He is confident in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, including spinal conditions, joint problems, tendon injuries, osteoarthritis, and persistent pain presentations. He also has extensive experience in post-operative rehabilitation, including ACL reconstruction recovery, helping patients progress safely through each stage of their recovery with realistic, personalised rehabilitation planning.

Sam’s experience covers a wide range of muscle, joint and movement-related conditions. This includes helping patients recover after surgery, fractures, ligament injuries, ankle surgery, shoulder pain, back and nerve-related pain, hip problems, sports injuries, and reduced mobility following illness or hospital admission. He is also trained to identify when symptoms may need further medical investigation or referral, ensuring patients receive safe and appropriate care.

His previous rotational experience across musculoskeletal outpatients, orthopaedics, acute medical wards, and respiratory physiotherapy has provided him with a broad and well-rounded clinical foundation. In addition, his work within intensive care has involved supporting medically unwell and complex patients, strengthening his clinical judgement, decision-making skills, and ability to work effectively under pressure.

Sam also has strong insight into hospital-acquired weakness and the physical impact of long periods of immobility. This experience is particularly valuable in home physiotherapy, where patients may need support rebuilding strength, mobility, balance, confidence, and independence after illness, surgery, or a hospital stay.

With a background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sports medicine, respiratory care, and critical care, Sam has a strong understanding of rehabilitation across different age groups and stages of recovery. His skillset includes detailed clinical assessment, tailored exercise prescription, one-to-one rehabilitation, manual therapy, functional rehabilitation, and clear patient education, all aimed at helping individuals restore movement, strength, and confidence.

Sam’s approach is calm, professional, evidence-based, and outcomes-focused. He takes pride in helping people return to function, achieve their goals, and feel supported throughout every stage of their rehabilitation journey. He places particular emphasis on realistic goal setting, safe progression, and building confidence in everyday activities.

Sam is known for his clear communication, professional manner, and ability to build trust with patients and families. He understands the importance of discretion, personalised care, and maintaining the highest standards when working within private homes and professional households.

Sam works across Guildford and Surrounding areas.
