Home Visit PHYSIOTHERAPY
Rehabilitation for Children
Our Paediatric physiotherapy specialists specialise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of various conditions and injuries related to children. Here is what to expect during your home based physiotherapy journey with us:
In Home PHYSIOTHERAPY for Children
Your physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment and identify specific needs and goals.
Based on your child’s assessment and goals, a personalised treatment plan will be developed, this may include one or a variety of treatment techniques such as hands on (manual therapy, massage, facilitated movement) and hands off (exercises, tasks, challenges).
Your physiotherapist may use games, role play or play based therapy to keep your child engaged whilst working on their skills.
Your childs personalised treatment plan may include one or various treatment strategies for example to improve strength, balance, co-ordination, movement patterns, posture or breathing.
Your child’s treatment plan will be provided in writing, via e-mail or via an exercise app so your child can complete them individually or with you, if required or preferred.
If needed, we are able to communicate with your GP regarding any medical concerns or further advise. We can also work alongside other specialties such as speech or occupational therapists to better provide a holistic approach.
Ultimately, the goal is to help your child improve their overall physical functioning
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
We look after everyday bones, joints and muscles in growing children, preventing small problems from becoming lifelong issues.
Common reasons families book home-visit MSK physiotherapy:
Growing pains – Osgood-Schlatter disease, Sever’s disease and other “growing pains”
Joint hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos syndromes
Sports and dance injuries (sprains, strains, stress fractures, overuse issues)
Postural concerns – scoliosis monitoring, kyphosis, rounded shoulders
Flat feet, in-toeing, out-toeing, knock-knees and bow legs
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis and other childhood rheumatic conditions
Back, neck and shoulder pain (often caused by heavy school bags, poor desk setup or too much screen time)
Because children’s bones are still growing, early play-based intervention at home protects growth plates, builds strength the fun way, and teaches healthy movement habits that last into adulthood. We use innovative techniques within your home using toys, furniture and gardens to easily replicate the exercise program.
Orthopaedic Physiotherapy
We specialise in children who need rehabilitation before or after bone and orthopaedic surgery or following serious injury. Bringing this care to your home means no stressful hospital trips, familiar surroundings for your child, and easier family involvement every step of the way.
We can help with:
Safe rehabilitation after fractures (getting back to school, playground and sport confidently)
Ponseti treatment for clubfoot (casting phase and boots-and-bar compliance support in the comfort of home)
Post-operative care after developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) surgery
Scoliosis management – brace weaning, exercises alongside Boston or night-time braces, and pre/post spinal fusion rehabilitation
Perthes disease and slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE)
Limb lengthening, deformity correction and complex foot surgeries
Osteochondritis dissecans and other growth-plate or cartilage conditions
Home visits are especially valuable when children are in casts, spica casts, braces or on crutches – we come to you so recovery stays on track without the struggle of getting out of the house.
Neurological Physiotherapy
We bring specialist neurological physiotherapy directly to your living room for babies, children and teenagers whose nervous system affects their movement, strength, balance or coordination. Home visits are particularly helpful for children who tire quickly, have high tone, use equipment or simply feel more relaxed in their own space.
We can support children with:
Cerebral palsy (hemiplegia, diplegia and quadriplegia)
Acquired brain injury (traumatic, stroke or post-encephalitis)
Global developmental delay
Genetic and neuromuscular conditions
Brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injuries (including Erb’s palsy)
Motor difficulties associated with autism, ADHD or sensory processing disorders
Our therapy focuses on:
Achieving key milestones – first independent sit, stand or steps, improving head, trunk and pelvic control
Reducing spasticity and preventing contractures with gentle stretching and positioning
Reviewing 24-hour postural management programmes
Teaching parents and carers hands-on techniques so progress continues every day
